An IT and digital training institute in Ernakulam needed plenty of course enquiries at a cost that made sense, across programmes in digital marketing, accounting and tech. The client

Our client trains people in IT and digital skills from its base in Ernakulam. Its courses range from digital marketing to more specialised options in accounting and technology, and each course pulls in its own type of student.

People choosing a course like these are usually thinking about a job or a better one. They compare institutes, ask about the syllabus, the fees and the timings, and often speak to someone before they sign up. The first step in that journey is an enquiry, and for an institute, a steady flow of enquiries at a sensible price is what keeps the batches running.

The challenge

The institute was after lots of course enquiries, but not at any price. The trouble is that quantity and price rarely move together. Pushing hard for more enquiries usually raises the price of each one, and squeezing the price usually brings fewer of them.

Both pressures were strong here. Digital marketing courses are heavily advertised, so there is plenty of competition for attention. The accounting and tech courses, on the other hand, serve such particular needs that only a narrow group of people is right for each.

Running several programmes added another layer. An advert that does well for one course can flop for another, and nobody can say beforehand which words or picture will draw the most enquiries. Many institutes guess, then put the whole budget behind the guess. That is an expensive way to learn.

What we did

Campaigns for each core programme

We built targeted lead generation campaigns for each of the institute's core programmes: digital marketing, accounting and tech. Every campaign talked only about its own course. People scroll straight past anything that is not about them, so someone hunting for an accounting course will not stop for a digital marketing advert, no matter how well it is made.

Structured A/B creative testing

Within each campaign, creatives were pitted against one another in a planned, structured way. The planning is what makes a test worth running. If two versions differ in a single, clear respect, the result teaches you something you can reuse. When they differ in many ways at once, all you learn is that one advert did better that week, without knowing why.

A structured test also protects the budget. Instead of committing everything to one untested idea, a smaller share of the money is spent finding out what works before the rest follows.

Meta instant forms

Enquiries were collected with Meta instant forms. These open within the app itself, so nobody is sent off to a website. When the target is lots of leads at a fair price, that is the sensible choice. Every step between interest and enquiry loses some people, so fewer steps mean more enquiries from the same spend.

Budget moved to the winners

Once the tests made it clear which instant-form funnels were doing best, we shifted budget in their direction, so the strongest versions got a bigger share and the weaker ones a smaller one. The best campaigns went on to deliver 166 leads at ₹113.69 each.

We applied the same "follow the numbers" approach for a study-abroad consultancy in Ernakulam, where the budget moved to the destination students were choosing.

Taken as a whole, the account paid ₹146.91 per lead on average. The top campaigns did it for ₹113.69 a lead, and they supplied 166 of the 263 leads, the bulk of the total.

The two cost figures measure different things. The average counts every creative put to the test, losers included. Any test has a price, since some versions will underperform. The lower figure from the top campaigns shows what the money achieved where it worked hardest, and that is where we moved it.

Why it worked

Testing replaced guesswork. For each programme, creatives competed on results. The choice of which advert to back came from the numbers, not from anyone's personal taste.

Money went where the proof was. As soon as a funnel showed it could bring in leads more cheaply, it was given a larger share of the budget. That explains why the strongest campaigns supplied the bulk of the leads.

The right form for the job. If you want plenty of enquiries at a fair cost, a quick form that never takes people out of the app suits that aim.

Let the numbers pick the advert, then back it with the budget.

How to apply this to your business

  • Run a separate campaign for each course, so each advert speaks to the people that course is for.
  • Test creatives against each other, changing one clear thing at a time, so you learn why a version wins.
  • Keep part of your budget for testing, and move the rest to proven winners as the results come in.
  • Use an in-app lead form when you want volume, and keep the questions short.
  • Look at both your average cost per lead and your best campaigns' cost, and understand the gap between them.
  • Keep testing after you find a winner, because what works this month may not work the next.

Questions business owners ask

How much does a lead cost for a training institute on Meta?

It depends on the course, the competition and the place. For this institute in Ernakulam, the average was ₹146.91 a lead and the best campaigns reached ₹113.69. A career training institute in Ernakulam is another example from the same city.

What is A/B creative testing?

It means running two or more versions of an advert side by side and comparing their results. Done in a structured way, each pair differs in one clear respect, so the winner tells you what made the difference.

Should I use instant forms or a landing page?

If your goal is a high volume of enquiries at a sensible cost, instant forms are hard to beat, because people can enquire without leaving the app. This institute collected 263 leads through them.

Why is my average cost per lead higher than my best campaign's?

Because the average includes every test, the losing versions as well as the winners. That gap is the price of finding out what works, and moving budget to the winners is how you narrow it.
